Anticipated Facebook and Apple Integration

By September 27, 2011 Mobile, Social Media

October 4th has been a much anticipated date for Apple fans and iPhone users. The new CEO, Tim Cook, who took over after Steve Jobs resigned, will announce the iPhone 5. Rumors have been going around for months now when the new iPhone will be released. There have been anticipated concepts and features thrown around. Everything from a scratch proof and shatter proof screen, physical or laser keyboard, holographic display and a new, sleeker body design. We may see more changes during this media event other than with Apple; Facebook may have some more up their sleeve. Whether or not all of this is actually true, we will have to wait and see.

What we do know for sure specifically about the new iPhone 5 is what was announced at the WWDC 2011 on June 6. Apple announced the iOS 5.0 and its features; it is anticipated that there will be more than 200 new features.

Some of these new anticipated features will include iMessage, iCloud, and a higher mega pixel camera.

iMessage is expected to be similar to Blackberry Messenger. All iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users will be able to communicate through an instant message type chat service that will be integrated into the SMS app.

iCloud is a new service which allows remote access of music from all computers and mobile devices. The iPhone 5 would automatically sync with iCloud and allow users to download and store their information to the phone.

A speculated 8-mega-pixel camera with dual-LED flash is anticipated for the iPhone 5. With the current iPhone 4 sporting a 5-mega-pixel camera, this is a big jump, however most of the Android smart phones already come with the 8-mega-pixel camera now. So to set the iPhone 5 apart there is talk about a possible 3D camera feature.

Once again, most of this is all speculation and the much anticipated iPhone 5 features will be announced October 4.

Facebook for iPad

But what does all of this mean for us social media lovers? Also on October 4 at the iPhone 5 media event, Facebook will launch their app for the iPad as well as their new version of the iPhone app. It is anticipated that this new app will support an HTML5-based mobile app marketplace.

There are even rumors going around that Facebook is going to integrate the iOS software. However, this speculation has been going on for months, because of a little tiff between a music social network called Ping.

Contrary to Facebook, Twitter has incorporated the iOS software. This allows users to turn individual actions into social activities instantly. This changed how social media operated; it makes tweeting and sharing information easier than ever.

To keep up with the relationships between social and technology, Facebook has to do something. Which is why it would be smart for Apple and Facebook to work together. They are two powerhouses that could change the social and mobile integration. Hopefully on October 4 we will see this integration come to life.
